SCOTUS ruled for democracy during the 2020 election. I don't think we should expect that this time around.

They love fascism and their stinking Nazi. I wonder when our government will start ignoring them. They don't have any enforcement powers.

(6,851 posts)While everyone knows they wear oven mitts beneath their robes. It helps insulate their delicate little phalanges from the fact the constitution is not written for a 21st century society seeking excuses, permission and forgiveness for destroying their own planet.

(4,428 posts)There is no cure for this except expanding the court to 13 and instituting a maximum term. If these things dont happen, the Republic is cooked.

(16,529 posts)I am hoping SO hard that Joe will do something about this in his second term.
I'm okay (not thrilled, but okay) with him waiting until he doesn't have to worry about reelection, because I know it will be extremely controversial. But if he doesn't move on this in term 2, I will be disappointed.

(11,744 posts)The Republican led governments of the past have already shown their plan to go after political rivals with the fishing expedition on the Clintons in the 1990's that started with a land deal, moved to "travelgate", and when that failed, they preyed upon an intern to set up Bill Clinton (and trust me, Bill was an idiot for going after Monica Lewinsky) which ended up with politicizing an extramarital affair into "obstruction" and lying to Congress (which unfortunately Bill did, by not just being honest and saying, "an affair is none of your damn business" . They tried to go after President Obama and Eric Holder. They maligned Hillary Clinton over Benghazi, when it was their own budget cuts that put that situation into motion.
How many convictions did they get for criminal activity in all of those "investigations"? Not fucking one!! Meanwhile, how many Republicans have been convicted? A comparison was made between Democratic and Republican Administrations over a 28 year span. The result:
Democratic - 7 Indictments; 3 Convictions; 1 Prison Sentence.
Republican - 126 indictments; 113 Convictions; 39 Prison Sentences
Democrats are more hesitant to investigate, but usually uncover more corruption. Republicans are more likely to use investigation but as per the evidence, much less likely to find criminality.
As usual, Conservatives (because that ideology drives Republicans) are projecting.
