But it gets worse! (update on: U.S. pier attacked during construction work off Gaza coast)

Original post: https://www.democraticunderground.com/100218894434

IDF says terrorists fired mortar shells at under-construction US-led Gaza aid pier as UN officials toured site

Members of a terror group in the Gaza Strip launched mortars at an under-construction pier for a US-led project to bring aid into the Palestinian enclave yesterday, the military says.

The mortar attack occurred as United Nations officials were touring the site with Israeli troops on the coast of central Gaza, the IDF says in response to a query on the incident.

The IDF says the UN officials were rushed to a shelter by troops amid the attack. UN officials also confirmed the mortar attack to the Associated Press, saying there were no injuries.

“The terrorist organizations continue to systematically harm humanitarian efforts while risking the lives of UN workers, while Israel allows the supply of aid to the residents of the Gaza Strip,” the IDF adds.

will improve the condition of the beleaguered Gazans and ease international pressure on Israel?

If so, that is terribly cynical, manipulative and cruel of the Muslim attackers, if they are in fact Muslims.

One might even go so far as to call it un-Islamic.

Their entire strategic planning for and conduct in this war relies on terrible cynicism.

And I just can't resist a snarky remark in light of your post: in the eyes of the people who keep repeating that Arabs are also Semites, Hamas' rule in Gaza would be considered antisemitic as well. Let them wrap their minds around that one.

It's shocking, but not really surprising, considering what we know about the mindset of these terrorists.

I wonder how long it will be before the usual suspects start trying to blame this on Israel somehow, or if they'll be satisfied with just playing down its significance. *weary sigh*

It's the same reason all the oil-rich Arab states with all their money don't give the Palestinians any aid.

The more they suffer, the worse Israel looks, and the more hatred toward Jews is stoked.

And the West is falling for it hook, line, and sinker.

If you want further info you can google. There are a few non Israel organizations with info. But not much.

Reuters

Ryder said the Pentagon was tracking some type of mortar attack in Gaza that caused minimal damage in the marshalling area for the pier. But he added that U.S. forces had not started moving anything to that area yet and there were no U.S. forces on the ground.

It’s not clear whether the militants knew what they were attacking, said the first U.S. official, adding that they may have simply seen a “target of opportunity” to strike the Israel Defense Forces.

A “small number of mortars” caused “minimal damage” in Gaza in the vicinity of the “marshalling yard area for humanitarian assistance that will soon be delivered by sea,” said one of the officials, a member of the U.S. military. The attack occurred before U.S. personnel began constructing the floating pier, t

I prefer not to speculate on motives because I don’t know. I don’t trust Hamas and I don’t trust Israel to tell the truth. I only know my own truth. Sorry if that isn’t good enough for you.

So much concern about the attack on the pier - stupid me though people would be glad everything was ok. But I guess that’s not important.

You either trust both of them or mistrust both if them. Whether the attack was perpetrated by Hamas, PIJ, or any other armed Palestinian faction is still up for debate, but this debate is kind of trivial.

Some U.S. military officials have also privately expressed security concerns about the project, and General Ryder said that the military was looking into a mortar attack on Wednesday that caused minimal damage in the area where some pier work is supposed to be done. However, he said, U.S. forces had not started moving anything into the area at the time of the mortar attacks. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/04/25/us/politics/gaza-aid-pier.html

No group claimed responsibility for the mortar fire, but a Hamas official told AP yesterday that the terror group will resist any foreign military presence involved with the port project.

So what will you say the next time they open fire? Because it sounds like they don't plan on stopping their attacks.

Obviously, Israel attacked it to make Hamas look bad. Hamas is the bestest, best organization in the world.
