When Obama got Osama bin Ladin, what was your reaction?

I was surprised, first. But then it dawned on me that his option was the best one for our country.

Generally, I'm not for the assassination of our foreign enemy leaders, but I trusted Obama.

I think it was best for the world that we eliminate that guy. What do you think?

First, the killing was carefully planned and narrowly targeted. Second, the killing did not appear to violate U.S. law or international law. Third, fuck that guy Bin Laden.

What Trump attempted to do was an assault against our Constitution and the American people who lawfully cast their ballots for Joe Biden in 2020. Trump would do it again, too, to become president and get out from under the federal indictments.

Thankfully we all don’t think alike. Bring the man to court, jail him…I have been opposed to war and killing since an adolescent and these days the senseless killing has me raw. Screw the killers and their sick minds that have polluted the people of this earth. Guns and more guns, babies and children murdered. As far as OBL , the bull$#it with replaying the tunnels and explosions …..totally unnecessary….yes it is and was all too much for me. You go though, I don’t judge you, I simply answered the question. And as a woman raw and fatigued from the $#it going down here well…I will speak my mind until the men completely silence me! Let them try.

have inspired more terrorist acts on his behalf while he was in prison and during his trial. Threats against the courts and jury 10 times worse than what Trump is making now.

Better, IMO, to just dispose of the murderer so he can't organize more murderous attacks.

I have long opposed death sentences for a number of reasons, but I do make an exception for terrorists because of the extreme danger that they pose for societies and the world.

I also have protested wars, like Vietnam and Iraq. But, although war should be avoided as much as possible, I believe that there are times when it is necessary in self defense.

But, as you said, we all have our own views.

bin Laden had attacked the World Trade Center in 1993 where at least 6 people were killed instantly, way before Sept. 11, 2001.

I remember Mr. Obama's speech and I felt relief, what I wasn't expecting later on social media (this didn't happen on Facebook) was arrogant people were saying arrogant things like, "Obama didn't kill bin Laden, the Seal Team 6 killed him."

My response went something like this, "The President is the Commander of Chief, who do you think gives the order for a terrorist to be killed? That would be Pres. Obama, the same would be true had it been Pres. Bush that gave the order. Our military follows orders of the President AKA the Commander in Chief."

But, as one-caliber and I said, most of the people who bombed us were Saudis, and a few were from Yemen, said to be a sort of vassal state to Saudi Arabia, right?

I believe there was some oblique criticism of this on that wonderful show about a Democratic president, The West Wing, in which they depicted how a good President would have handled it. Somebody suggested invading a neighboring country, and that President said it would be unjust to invade a country that had not actually done the bombing.

At the same time, I'm sure I was probably happy for President Obama's win.

President Obama cleaned up that little detail.

I don’t understand people who think it was a wrong action to hunt down Bin Ladin — if it bothers you, go ahead and remember him in your prayers, but don’t expect most of the rest of us to do so. And be sure to never run for POTUS, where life and death decisions are part of the job description no matter what.

Remember, Obama was on the fence about this, and asked the advice of his cabinet and VP. Hillary Clinton led the "get him by any means necessary" charge.

According to Obama, Biden wanted him to wait, he wrote in his memoir:

“Joe weighed in against the raid,” Obama writes in A Promised Land, about discussion of the Navy Seals mission, which he ordered to go ahead as intended in Abbottabad, Pakistan, on the night of 1-2 May 2011.

Surprised that Bin Laden was summarily executed and not taken prisoner because of the information he could potentially provide.

Think some parties did not want Bin Laden to be a fount of information.

Overall agree with OP, Bin Laden gone and a closed issue was good for the USA and World.
