Blackstone is owned by Steve Schwarzman, one of the GOPs deep-pocketed owners.

BlackRock donates to both parties. Blackstone donates to Republicans. GOP strategists know they can easily smear BlackRock as the culprit because most people are careless and won’t know the difference. Thereby protecting one of their biggest donors by attaching the bad business model he runs onto another company with a similar name.
