Without drama or fanfare, Biden advances policies that matter

As Donald Trump's legal troubles dominate the political conversation, President Biden is methodically advancing an ambitious and meaningful policy agenda.

To be sure, some of President Joe Biden’s recent accomplishments have been dramatic in their own right. After all, the Democrat recently helped prevent a war between Israel and Iran, while carefully navigating the congressional process on a critically important security aid package.

But that’s not all the incumbent president and his administration have been up to. The New York Times reported this morning:

The Biden administration on Thursday placed the final cornerstone of its plan to tackle climate change: a regulation that would force the nation’s coal-fired power plants to virtually eliminate the planet-warming pollution that they release into the air or shut down. The regulation from the Environmental Protection Agency requires coal plants in the United States to reduce 90 percent of their greenhouse pollution by 2039, one year earlier than the agency had initially proposed.

This comes the day after Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg made a big announcement of his own. NBC News reported:

A federal rule announced Wednesday will require airlines to quickly give cash refunds — without lengthy arguments — to passengers whose flights have been canceled or seriously delayed, the Biden administration said. ... The rule from the Transportation Department says passengers who decline other reimbursement like travel credits are to get cash refunds.

This week, the Biden administration has also:

announced a major breakthrough on non-compete clauses;
made millions of American workers eligible for overtime pay;
unveiled a new rule cracking down on the kind of investment advice that advisors, brokers, and insurance agents can give to retirement savers;
made it easier for military spouses to work remotely;
announced $7 billion in federal grants for residential solar projects in low- and middle-income communities.

Remember, not only are these worthwhile steps, they’re also a sampling of the kind of governing we’re seeing from the Biden administration over the last few days.

We collectively fell off a cliff and barely holding on to a ledge. But Joe is going for help instead of Trump so I have a lot more hope that my life will be saved.

FCC votes to bring back Obama-era 'net neutrality' rules that were repealed under Trump
The rules aim to ensure that websites and apps have equal access to the global internet regardless of their size or ability to pay the companies that own the web’s infrastructure, such as network cables and cell towers.
April 25, 2024, 3:31 PM CDT
By David Ingram

The Federal Communications Commission voted Thursday to restore the policy of net neutrality, a set of rules that requires broadband internet providers to treat all internet traffic more or less equally.

The move is a continuation of a battle that has raged for 20 years, with competing visions about what an open and efficient internet should look like.

The vote was 3-2, with the FCC’s Democratic majority in favor and the Republican minority opposed. The vote largely restores a policy that was put in place in 2015 during the Obama administration and then repealed during the Trump administration in 2017.

The net neutrality rules are designed to ensure that websites and apps have equal access to the global internet regardless of their size or ability to pay the companies that own the web’s infrastructure, such as network cables and cell towers. They block broadband internet providers from manipulating speeds or creating internet “fast lanes” where a company might pay extra for faster uploads and downloads of its content.

Calling everyone anyone who disagrees him a children's name?.

Who are T***p's followers going to turn to when then need validation of their racism, misogynism, and ripping children from the arms of their parents? Who will protect their sacred right to own guns, but not a woman's right to choose her health care? Who will protect the very rich but not unions?

And and on.

They can't stand that. Earth One is scary place. Earth Two as he describes it is Valhalla.

No fanfare, no drama. People have come to expect a show. Even the press expects a show. I remember one reporter commenting that now that Trump is out of office, all they have to write about is an old man playing with his dog.

I don't give a fuck about what's going on in TSF's life other than that he should be rotting behind bars in a cold damp prison cell. Throw away the key and stop reporting any more about it. I want America to succeed. And for it to do that, we need to get back to business!!!

Best president in my lifetime. And yet, so many of my friends, family, and acquaintances just focus on his age, "He's too old," or they say, "He hasn't done much as president." Have these people been under a rock? I try to educate them, but can't get through to most of them. The good thing is that they are all Democrats and a few Independents, and they do still plan on voting for Biden because they can't stand Trump.
