...at make it damn plain they know the corrupt game the other Justices are playing, and ruthlessly expose them.
Is that breaking a norm? Yes. But to possibly save us from far, far more consequential norms being blown apart in an ugly, cynical game of power politics.

(1,850 posts)First, theres no corruption for them to call out. And second, theres zero chance any justice would do that. This is real life, not a Grisham novel, and thats not how the Supreme Court operates.
Its shocking how little knowledge folks seem to have about our government and the rule of law.

(1,850 posts)Havent received a response yet. What corruption has occurred? Where did the Court do anything that violated the Constitution?

(15,295 posts)Our goddamned democracy itself is on the line. It wouldn't break a single law, it wouldn't go against the Constitution. It would do nothing but ignore dainty norms of conduct that we can't afford now.
But sure, let's also worry about whether the Justices properly extend their pinkies while sipping tea.

(1,806 posts)If they grant Trump immunity they will have broken the social contract. It will be them who violated it, not anyone else, and them who will be responsible for anything that results, from that decision.
I am not saying they will or won't grant him immunity, just giving my opinion, of how I would view it, if they do.

(13,431 posts)I am sure you mean well and probably want to believe there is no corruption on the court. However, the billionaires funding Thomass lifestyle and the mysterious benefactor(s) wiping out Kavanaughs debt and mortgage are impossible to explain away as anything other than corruption.
Ill give you that Alito and Gorsuch are just grade A assholes and Barrett is little more than a deer in the headlights completely out of her league. Then theres Roberts who is as feckless and as derelict as humanly possible. But its difficult to explain away Thomas and Kavanaugh as being anything other than corrupted to the core.

they ought to stage a "die-in" !!!

then certainly the liberal justices can go before the press with equal concerns as to WHY actions and decisions of their conservative colleagues have given RISE to America's perception of the institution they (presumably) hold dear.
If you were part of a business or an entity and you knew some of your colleagues were compromising and UNDERMINING it, would YOU sit shit faced silent?
