The Dog Murdered By Trump's Potential Vice Presidential Running Mate Choice

That last part there really gets to it. Kristi Noem's dog story was a political calculation. MAGA puts great stock and value in being politically incorrect. What greater way to show how politically incorrect you are than by admitting you shot your dog in the face?

Noem included this story in her book because she believed there was a constituency for it. Noem believed the MAGAs of America would love this story of a rebel against conventional thinking and political correctness. In that calculation it appears that she might be wrong, but that was the calculation she made. She may have miscalculated, but it was a political calculation.

Cricket died just sitting there as his master shot him in the face, still trusting and loving his master through the very end. In that, Cricket may be a metaphor for MAGAs everywhere.

In all fairness, if she killed one of my chickens I'd shoot her in the face too.

This was a puppy who probably never got much attention and I imagine was not trained for anything.
I don't think this whack job should be allowed to go anywhere near dogs.

She had to put down three horses at the same time? How were they killed?

Does anyone else wonder if Kristi Noem is on a killing spree?

and the goat because she wanted to portray herself as someone who is strong enough to do things that are difficult "but have to be done," as she puts it, even if those things couldn't be stomached by lesser mortals - that is, normal people who aren't angling for a vice-presidential offer by another psychopath who appreciates cruelty. Normal, decent people who recognize that dogs and other animals are sentient beings, normal people who love them as family members and who are heartbroken when they become old and sick, and have to be euthanized out of kindness. Killing a dog whose behavior is inconvenient is not the act of a decent person. Of course, she didn't have to kill the dog; if she hadn't been so lazy and cold-hearted she could have either made the effort to train the dog properly, or hire someone who could, or find another home for her; and she could have had the aggressive goat neutered. But it was easier and more convenient to just shoot them. As far as she was concerned they were just malfunctioning machines that she could discard like a broken toaster. It's bad enough that she did it; bragging about it shows us exactly who and what she is.

But even I know all the ways she failed this one. My grand-da had hunting dogs all of his adult life, so I witnessed much of the process whenever he got a new dog.

What I want to know: Grand-da's family was so poor that he didn't get the chance to finish primary school, yet he was smart enough to know how to train a dog not to kill his chickens. His rural neighbours weren't much more educated, and they didn't have chicken-munching dogs, either.

And yet a college-educated woman couldn't manage what someone with a 4th grade education easily did?
