MAGAts don't want to see any women, any people of color, any non-straight or non-Christian people on their TVs, as their bosses, as their doctors, judges, teachers, etc - they don't want to see them in any positions of power and certainly not in any positions of power over them. Only straight white men anywhere. All others to be confined to services and low wage labors.
It's racism, sexism and the whole basic EuroChristoFascist package. It's been the same routine since the first European nutjobs (Puritans) first infected this continent.
It's not that the MAGAts are confused about their own self-interests, it's that they are under the delusion that there are such things as races, that there are such things as "white" people (P.S. we all have mixed DNA), and the blatantly false delusion that "white" people are superior in any way.

even though only ONE out of every four actually profited from it?

(1,358 posts)they don't benefit by, it's a very good analogy, imo.
How many more of those 3/4 of poorer Southerners might have benefited, I wonder, if they were employed to work farms and plantations in lieu of all that free slave labour?
How much of all that documented record setting wealth and profit from "King Cotton" managed to TRICKLE-DOWN to those poor Southerners who gave their lives on behalf of the slave masters' profits, I wonder?
How many of Trump's women, minority, and LGBTQ+ supporters will actually benefit from the fascist, women hating, gay hating, minority hating, immigrant hating, Jew and Muslim hating rhetoric, ideologies, and POLICIES of the MAGA party, I wonder?

(1,900 posts)Actually liked his policies? This is even more disrespectful-now youre accusing minorities of not knowing what is in their best interests.

(1,358 posts)his minority voters put in HIM. And not only his minority voters.
How many of his voters, minority and not-minority, came to regret the trust they placed in Trump after he flat out lied to them about Covid, I wonder?
How many like Herman Cain, died believing in him?

when (with rare exception) the only minorites seen on screen were either butlers, maids, or dancing.
According to MAGATS, if a minority face appears anywhere, it must be "DEI."

B.See
(1,358 posts)hate based rhetoric, the embrace of neo Nazis and white supremacists, the massive voter purges, the questioning of the legitimacy of (mostly) minority voters, the attacks and death threats on minority election workers,
the Republican assault upon Affirmative Action, the Voting Rights Act, Obamacare, Medicare, Medicaid, Child Free Lunch and other Children's nutrition programs,
the reversal of Roe v Wade and the cruel and mean-spirited GOP anti-women legislation aimed at criminalizing doctor and patient alike,
the demonizing of gays, transgenders, and their families, the embrace of anti-Semitism and xenophobic sentiment, the hateful rhetoric against immigrants of colour, the discriminatory legislation allowing the stop, search, or seizure of those who 'look like' undocumented immigrants,
the attacks upon diversity and inclusion, the dismantling of Black studies and history in school curriculums, the undermining of consumer protections,
the Trump cessation of consent decrees in oversight of errant police departments, and the increasing vitriol, assaults and other acts of intimidation and violence toward minorites
are what's REALLY 'disrespectful to those minorities who voted for Trump in 2020.
TexasDem69
(1,900 posts)You do you I guess.
B.See
(1,358 posts)Imo, calling out all the ways Trump and his MAGAs have failed and have even done outright harm to his minority supporters, and in fact, to many of his NON minority voters as well, isn't being, as you say, 'disrespectful.'
The publication of TRUTHS that some might find uncomfortable has nothing to do with 'respect.'

(1,358 posts)Example,
Today I read of how MAGA's rabble rousing racist, Donnie Trump, (quite predictably) jumped on the"anti-white racism" bandwagon, adding to the list of ways (enumerated above) that Trump (continues to) disrespect and betray his minority supporters.
Trump Declares U.S. Has Definite Bias Against White People That May Be Worse Than Racism Against Black Americans be - Mediaite
So I have to wonder how in the hell is calling that out 'disrespecting' his minority supporters?
How is one being an 'extremist' by revealing these TRUTHS?

(1,551 posts)If I still watched the rubbish that is the telly, I'm sure plenty on there would offend me, and I know that plenty that they show would be something I never want to see at all (like oh, traitors, namely TSF and his Myrmidions).
But I'd do what mature adults with a brain would do if it appeared on my screen: Change the bloody channel, or, better yet, turn the bloody telly off entirely. It's like they can't fathom that they can watch something else...or nothing at all.

(1,358 posts)Especially if they've bought into the (fallacious) notion of being replaced by some demonized "other."
So instead they, in effect, begin searching for content that confirms this notion, in order to prove themselves correct. Which in turn reinforces their enmity towards their perceived "boogeymen."
There was a study done, back around the start of Trump's regime I think, that found just the sight of a Black face invoked a hostile response from Trump voters on key issues.
Quite telling, I thought.
