PA: Eugene DePasquale (D), former state rep and fiscal watchdog, looks to bring decades of experience to AG's office

The name Eugene DePasquale is a familiar one not only to York County — but arguably to Pennsylvania at large.

Now the Democratic nominee for attorney general, DePasquale has a lengthy career in government. He represented the York County-based 95th state House district from 2007 to 2013 before going on to serve as the state's auditor general from 2013 to 2021.

In the latter role, he was known as a particularly visible financial watchdog who dipped his toe into virtually every issue that touched state government — from child abuse and gun safety to medical marijuana and the state Game Commission's finances.

Now, DePasquale has his sights set on being Pennsylvania's top prosecutor.

"I gathered a reputation, I'd like to think correctly so, as someone who promoted openness and transparency and someone that worked across the aisle to get things done," DePasquale said in an interview before the primary.
