(9,069 posts)or something like that. But 24 people? That dog was not happy. Hope they found him a more compatible environment.

(14,164 posts)And he was probably stressed out plus the fact that hes a German Shepard which means hes protective. Doesnt mean hes a bad dog.

(47,817 posts)to train him properly before he moved into the White House. In a more normal situation, the Bidens could have spent more time with him minus all the "strangers" coming in and out of his life. Also Joe and Jill would have been away from home a lot. Meanwhile, he was very young when they got him. Of course, it is possible he may have never been a good fit for a White House dog.
I know what you mean about German Shepards being very protective. Another reason why the right training is essential. Unfortunately, both Commander and Major bit people.

(15,225 posts)Id say your assessment has merit. He was, after all, the second dog that didnt seem to like the secret service detail.
I always go with the dog!!!

(10,045 posts)There was a discussion this morning at the shelter about the Slobfather and how he doesn't like animals. There was universal agreement that none of us were voting for him on those grounds alone, "Because somebody who hates animals doesn't belong in the White House!" Period.
WhiskeyGrinder
(22,553 posts)he might be now, or how long he was allowed to stick around and bite people.

(10,045 posts)the other comment was, "Dogs know." That was right after the discussion about how German Shepherds, especially young ones, need, above all, consistency...the same one or two handlers every day taking them out, walking them, feeding them, whatever. Not a bunch of random Secret Service people every day. Even at the shelter we try out best to enforce that, and that's hard, what with rotating schedules and whatnot.

(35,879 posts)he tells this story about dogs. For those who don't know, Noory is the host of Coast to Coast AM, the night time radio show that discusses paranormal topics.
He was on a date and took the woman to dinner.
During dinner the topic of dogs came up and the woman said she didn't like dogs and couldn't understand why anyone would have one.
Game changer. Noory called for the check and the evening was over.
