I posted a week or two ago that Tur asked a lawyer if cheato falling asleep would cause the prospective jurors to feel "empathy" for him. Of course the lawyer politely shut down her inane musings. Then yesterday she was basically called a representative for cheato by none other than Nancy Pelosi during a live interview, for which she was absolutely trashed on twitter.
This morning when the lawyer was going through how various cohorts of cheato's were testifying about the conspiracy to keep damaging news out of the media, she actually asked again if the jurors would feel sorry for him. The lawyer had no idea what she was talking about. According to the testimony, it was he and his cohorts who were breaking the law and engaging in catch and kill for political reasons. No one was plotting against him. Nothing unfair to cheato was happening by any stretch of the imagination. It was all negative info about him and the others who helped him. SO WHY IN GOD'S NAME would anyone feel sorry for him?
She is almost a parody at this point. Next up, when (and if) cheato is convicted, I expect her first question will be : But isn't this bad for Joe Biden?
Oh, edited to add that later when someone said that a member of cheato's family finally attended the trial, she immediately said something like it's not finally. It's only been a week! So her first instinct is definitely to defend him.

(21,573 posts)maybe she feels sorry for TSF?

(17,280 posts)so maybe. But it also could be that she wants to maintain access as suggested down thread. After all, she made a lot of money on her book.

(68,935 posts)thought about it was when she was interviewing a GOP candidate. I can't remember who. It was some time ago. She fell all over him gushing that we needed more candidates like him. Now granted, he was pretty as Republicans go, but she was unprofessional. And I have heard her defend and compliment Republicans over the years while going after Democrats.
If it were up to me. She would be let go at MSNBC and maybe land at Fox- more her speed. Her husband, Tony, Dokoupil, who works for CBS Morning-is often critical of Democrats and the the Democratic Party. I no longer watch CBS Mornings as a result.

(73,723 posts)What a disappointment she is. Years ago at MSNBC, Keith Olbermann was her mentor. She seemed intelligent, with the potential of being a serious reporter. But it is like a butterfly has changed into a maggot.

(68,935 posts)the interview pointless in the end. Everyone will merely think she is a phony and has an agenda.

(6,261 posts).....office in the world. Making her actions re: TFG despicable. She is putting her access importance ahead of all Americans to live in a 250+ year-old democracy.
Finally, she is deluding herself if she thinks her action today will get her access and keep her access if she misspeaks against TFG in the future. He'll dispose of her just like a McDonald's hamburger wrapper.

And CNN leaves Assface's ugly mug on the screen continuously. I'm gonna throw a towel over it and keep it on mute.

Tur was NBC News's and MSNBC's embedded reporter on the 2016 Donald Trump presidential campaign.[13] As a reporter for NBC, Tur was assigned the task of informing the Trump campaign about the Access Hollywood tape that the network had in its possession, featuring Trump's remarks about women in a conversation with Billy Bush.[14]
On several occasions during his campaign rallies, Trump singled out Tur in his criticism of the press.[15] At an event in Florida, Tur was booed by Trump supporters and, according to CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer, verbally harassed.[16] According to Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway, "[Trump] didn't mean it in any malicious way",[17] and he did not want anyone to attack or harass her.[18]
In 2017, Tur received the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism.[19]
Tur reflected on covering the Trump campaign and his treatment of her at campaign rallies in an article for Marie Claire.[20] In September 2017, she published a book, Unbelievable: My Front-Row Seat to the Craziest Campaign in American History, recounting her experience in covering Trump's 2016 presidential campaign.[21][22] The book spent several weeks on the New York Times Best Seller list.[23]...snip...more...

(33,002 posts)I'm sure that a lot of her recent scrambling to create sympathy for Chump is related to that. Todd has always been a both-sider and someone who bent over backwards for the Repukes.
I read Katy Tur's book "Unbelievable" also and I admired her spunk for writing it. That's why this recent enabling for Chump is ... well ... "unbelievable."

It's very hard to get rich being a known Democratic pundit in today's media landscape. Frankly, a former "liberal" pundit who goes to the right will be thrown money for a while at least.
If you want to try and become a national news anchor, which is hard to do despite it's corporate requirements, you cannot become one being liberal. There's little news print anymore.
I cannot say Katy is selling out, but that tempting option is always there for those who want money over democracy.
Finally, I say Katy and other "journalists" are playing a dangerous game because the Deadbeat Republicon WILL shut down unfriendly media and those who fight him will soon begin falling out of windows.
You know it and I know. Why doesn't Katy Tur know it? Maybe she's just dim.
