If so, damn. Boeing used to be the pinnacle of aeronautics. What has happened? sigh...

Don't know how old the plane is or how FedEx handles their maintenance of the planes. Their own crews or 3rd party.

At DIA they had a great crew of mechanics. Stuff breaks sometimes. The landing gear is one of the first things they look at
when a plane comes in. But not every part is inspected every time. I don't know what happened here but the Mech's Fedex
hires are the best. Typically they have a couple of hours of ground time to work on things unless it's a quick turn(1 hour max).
If the part broke on takeoff no one would know until the gear is redeployed. I never worked overseas, so I don't know
if they use 3rd party elsewhere.
