If he actually hadn't slept with her, and didn't need to cover it up, he'd have sued her for slander. That's the summation. He allowed her slander, AND paid her, in order to try to win the election.

(52,641 posts)He learned a long time ago that it's cheaper to just not pay people you owe money to, force them to sue in order to collect.
Most people either don't bother, eventually give up, or settle for something considerably less than 100%, and possibly years later.
Not a problem if you don't value a continued relationship. But Donnie worked the media to maintain an image, ensuring a nearly endless supply of suckers.
I read on WaPo last year that Trump has filed suits more than 4,000 times. I believe this number has been verified.

(58,711 posts)From the 1970s until he was elected president in 2016, Donald Trump and his businesses were involved in over 4,000 legal cases in United States federal and state courts, including battles with casino patrons, million-dollar real estate lawsuits, personal defamation lawsuits, and over 100 business tax disputes.[1] He has also been accused of sexual harassment and sexual assault,[2][3] with one accusation resulting in him being held civilly liable.[4]
In 2015, Trump's lawyer Alan Garten called Trump's legal entanglement "a natural part of doing business" in the U.S.[5][6] While litigation is indeed common in the real estate industry,[5] Trump has been involved in more legal cases than his fellow magnates Edward J. DeBartolo Jr., Donald Bren, Stephen M. Ross, Sam Zell, and Larry Silverstein combined.[7] Numerous legal matters and investigations occurred during and after Trump's presidency, some being of historical import.

(20,861 posts)If he didn't like her making money off a lie (it wasn't but he's pretending she's lying) he would have sued her. I hope it comes up in summation. Or, I hope the jury tosses it around.

Analyses by Bloomberg and USA TODAY, however, differ over whether Trump sues or gets sued more often.
USA TODAYs findings indicate that Trump sues slightly more than he gets sued as a proportion of all identified lawsuits.
Bloomberg, on the other hand, filtered out unremarkable lawsuits related to Trump such as personal injury complaints from its initial tally of 1,300. It found about 200 noteworthy lawsuits, and Trump or his companies were the defendant in almost 70 percent of those cases.

https://www.rawstory.com/undisguised-corruption-critics-slam-trump-for-selling-the-white-house-to-big-oil-2668212449/
Donald Trump is promising CEOs of oil and gas conglomerates he will dismantle the climate protections President Joe Biden has installed, and he will green light their policy wishlists including gutting support for electric vehicles if they donate $1 billion for his presidential campaign, according to reporting from Politico and The Washington Post.
You all are wealthy enough, he said, that you should raise $1 billion to return me to the White House," reports The Post, describing Trump's conversation "with some of the countrys top oil executives at his Mar-a-Lago Club last month."
"At the dinner, he vowed to immediately reverse dozens of President Bidens environmental rules and policies and stop new ones from being enacted, according to people with knowledge of the meeting, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe a private conversation," The Post added. "Giving $1 billion would be a 'deal,' Trump said, because of the taxation and regulation they would avoid thanks to him, according to the people."
***Article goes on to mention that they are already drawing up Ready to Sign policies getting exactly what they desire. Ready on day one.
Edited to add
These trials as needed as they are
are being used by his campaign as distractions from their plans. They crime on everything and use anything in committing them.
