FL deputies kill 23 y/o black US airman -- burst into wrong apartment

The family’s attorney, Ben Crump, said Okaloosa County sheriff’s deputies responding to a disturbance call burst into the wrong unit and fatally shot Senior Airman Roger Fortson when they saw he was armed with a [licensed] gun.

The sheriff’s office has declined to identify the responding deputies or their races. Officials have said the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the local State Attorney’s Office will investigate the shooting.

These cases just keep happening. But they only seem to happen to Black people. Like Brianna Taylor, Botham Jean, Atatiana Jefferson, Philando Castile . The sheriffs apparently knocked 3 times. There was no noise or disturbance in the unit but they burst in after the 3rd knock as he was on a Facebook call.

Seems like gun rights are a privilege for some but a death sentence whenever police encounter guns legally in the hands of Black people.
