Minn. student suspended over Michael Jackson dance

WINONA, MINN. -- A Catholic school in Minnesota has suspended a 9-year-old boy for performing a crotch-grabbing Michael Jackson dance move during a fundraiser.

Mindy Boberg told the Winona Daily News ( http://bit.ly/x0vhig) the principal at St. Stanislaus in Winona informed her that her son was being suspended because his performance of "Billie Jean" constituted gross misconduct.

She says principal Pat Bowlin was particularly unhappy with the handful of times the boy, Lenny, reached for his groin area to imitate Jackson's dancing Thursday night.

Bowlin told the newspaper he plans to meet with the family Monday. He declined to comment further, saying it was an internal issue.

Boberg said Lenny has performed similar Jackson dance routines the past two years at the event and the performance was approved during a rehearsal.

Maybe someone - the school, the parents - might have seen THAT as a red flag?

I'm shocked, shocked I tell you that you would think of a rejoinder to that.

He's got parents that should be yanked by the ears for ever being allowed to procreate if all they're going to do is allow a 9 YO to think that's acceptable behavior for his age. No telling what else goes on in that household.

I can't remember if he went for the package, but he did a more than passable moon walk

he used to do it in class most of the time, when I asked him to show us, which was about twice a month

he's from Belarus

If touching one's self is so damned horrible, why isn't it outlawed? (I know, the repigs would jump at the chance.)

The kid is nine years old. There's nothing down there, except a funny thing he pees with, which was funny for a little while but will not get any attention from him for years.

The kid has no idea what that silly thing will do one day. For god's sake, people (not the OP, not DU), get over yourselves and quit complaining about "sexualization" of children while YOU are the ones assigning motives to nothing more than innocent imitation of a dance video!

My head hurts now.

- private schools get to set their own rules and regs to a degree and, as a Catholic school, I'm betting they have behavior rules. I have to question the parents on allowing a 9 year old to be crotch-grabbing in a school setting in the first place.

MJ styled crotch grabbing is simply not age appropriate nor appropriate for an environment that has young children. A little common sense goes a long way . . .
