Rachel Maddow: Republican Party Is Waging War On Contraception

from HuffPo: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/05/rachel-maddow-republicans_n_1255772.html?ref=media

Rachel Maddow on NBC's "Meet The Press"

"Roughly 80 percent of people say that anybody providing health insurance should be required to cover contraception. And so there is a way you can try to make this into a religious freedom issue but...campaigning against the availability of birth control in America is going to run into a 21st century ceiling," Maddow said.

Maddow later said, "the idea that the Catholic church is being forced to do something that, as a church, it does not want to do is a misnomer...The question here is...when you want to become a health insurance provider, you must follow the rules of providing health insurance. And in this country, that means you have to cover contraception."

Castellanos began to interrupt Maddow but she continued. "You guys only want to make this about religion, but listen," Maddow said. "The administration made this only about religion—ask the Bishop," Castellanos said as he talked over Maddow.

Maddow ended her comment by saying that the Republican party was "waging war on contraception at this point."

So, women in red states, white majority, will carry all fetuses to term. Those in blue states, will do as their consciences and ability to support will allow.

This strategy, unlike outlawing all abortion, addresses the demographic shift so feared by provincial whites.

This could play out as overt, or even subliminally.

I wonder why the big pharmaceutical companies that sell contraceptives aren't fighting back. Or are they?

that ultimately BC would be included in their fight. When you hear arguments that gays cannot reproduce, read between the lines. What happens when STRAIGHTS "can't" reproduce? That takes away their arguments on gay marriage. Both groups are "sinning" against their god.

Sex = PROCREATION. There is no room for Birth Control.

I find it amazing that this is even an issue. This is not the 40's where "wimmens" can't decide what is best for their families.
These people would insist every woman have as many children as "god says so" and them condemn these same women when there is no way they can support and feed them.
i can see it now... "If you can't support them 15 kids you shouldn't have had them all"
The ignorance of it can really get me down sometimes.
