When I was in junior high school, I made a "scale model" of the solar system out of wire and balls/beads of various sizes. My dad, an engineer, helped with construction and pointed out that it could not possibly be "to scale" because my billiard ball-sized Sun would require that Pluto be something like half a mile away (if I'm remembering that detail correctly).
We agreed that we'd have to fudge it a bit and note that on the chart, because otherwise we'd have some trouble getting my project to school.
My poor little brain was awed then and this interactive presentation incites the same reaction. In fact, every time I focus on this subject, it happens again!
And to think... we, who have the ability to study, explore, and try to understand all this, are ourselves star stuff.
Awesome.
