Top Ten Catholic Teachings Santorum Rejects while Obsessing about Birth Control

Posted on 02/12/2012 by Juan
The right wing Republican politicians who have been denouncing the requirement that female employees have access to birth control as part of their health benefits as an attack on religious freedom completely ignore the church teachings they don’t agree with. Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich are both Catholics, and wear their faith on their sleeves, but they are hypocritical in picking and choosing when they wish to listen to the bishops.

1. So for instance, Pope John Paul II was against anyone going to war against Iraq I think you’ll find that Rick Santorum managed to ignore that Catholic teaching.

2.The Conference of Catholic Bishops requires that health care be provided to all Americans. I.e., Rick Santorum’s opposition to universal health care is a betrayal of the Catholic faith he is always trumpeting.

3. The Catholic Church opposes the death penalty for criminals in almost all situations. (Santorum largely supports executions.)

4. The US Conference of Bishops has urged that the federal minimum wage be increased, for the working poor. Santorum in the Senate repeatedly voted against the minimum wage.

He twists the Church's teachings to make Jesus out to be a teabagger. He's one of those who call Catholics to his left "cafeteria Catholics" when he's one himself.

which is the same as the main stream Conservative movement which just shows that these Bishops and church activists are nothing more than Republican entities. When the "gay" was all the rage in the 2000s suddenly these same people couldn't stop talking about it, now contraceptives is the issue the GOP wants to talk about and magically out appear the same ditto heads. Isn't it clear these people are just using their church position to make biased political statements that have nothing to do with religion and everything to do with the GOP. The new neoconservative is more interested in political power and using their position to further party positions than their actual job. This is true of that nut in planned parenthood, every nut at FOX news, heck the NRA leadership has been at it for years, most of Cheney's civil hirings during the Bush years and apparently now the Catholic church leadership. It's the same shit, different location. They all do the same crap and none of it is focused on doing their actual calling or job.

that you are supposed to control others so that their actions conform to your idea of God's will, that way you don't really need to. That's why 90+% of Catholics use contraception, and remain part of an organization that stops others from doing so. It is not what they do, it is what they can make others do. All faiths are like that in this country. Not just the Catholics.
Take the great Rick Warren Prays at the Oath of Office routine, in which it was so important to get a hate preacher to pray prior to the oath 'to honor Christ' Well Christ said only hypocrites pray in front of others and that all oaths are from evil. They wanted to do prayers for each other, then swear an oath to God, what God told them to do is without merit in any way.
None of them follow their religions, they just want to control others. The end.
