Santorum Michigan Ad Artfully Fails To Mention He Opposed Auto Bailout

Santorum Michigan Ad Artfully Fails To Mention He Opposed Auto Bailout

The Rick Santorum campaign is up with a new TV ad in Michigan, slamming Mitt Romney while touting Santorum's manufacturing plans.

The spot, titled "Your Side," begins with a voiceover asking, "Who's on the side of Michigan workers?"

"Not Romney," the voice concludes. "He supported the Wall Street bailouts while turning his back on Michigan workers."

Left unsaid is the fact that Santorum also opposed the auto-industry bailout. At times on the campaign trail Santorm has tried to draw a distinction between himself and Mitt Romney by saying that while they both opposed the auto bailout, he did so because of a principled opposition to all bailouts, whereas Romney opposed intervening on the auto industry but supported programs like TARP which were aimed at shoring up the banking industry.

The rest of the ad touts Santorum's new economic "Made In The USA" plan, saying it "cuts taxes on Michigan manufacturers to zero, so we can bring back American jobs from overseas."

Evidently, Santorum realizes that opposing the auto bailout wasn't a good idea.

He lies by omission...and probably does it everyday. And then I bet he goes to confession...but the next day he gets up and does it all over again.

Now it has been a very long time since I was a Catholic, but I remember from catechism classes that a confession didn't count unless you were sincere...which menas you can't confess on Sunday and go out and do it again on Monday!

Like I said it's been a very long time, and I guess the church has changed its standards regarding confessions!
