USA Today/Gallup poll shows Santorum in a lead over Obama

From Slate:

<snip>

But the second poll suggests the race is much closer and that Santorum may actually have inched ahead of Obama. The USA Today/Gallup survey found the former Pennsylvania senator with a 49-46 lead over Obama, and Romney knotted at 47-percent a piece with the president.

Ok I said I would leave the country when Bush was elected (well ok stole the presidency - sigh I'm still bitter) and I stayed ...but seriously?? Santorum?? Ahead of Obama? This time, if Frothy is elected I am running away either that or petition that MN secede from the US.

I can't stand it - what is wrong with people? Its ok to be batshit crazy (ie Santorum) but its not ok to SUPPORT and VOTE for batshit crazy.

so huge as to the future of the US it would be time to get out, definitely. Countries fail and some turn very evil. ... but even further than that, it would tell one what the citizens had become.

It would be the complete end of the Republican Party. It would be worth it to sit and watch. They would have to eat their own.

leans right, and the poll has a margin of error of +/- 4 percent.

I frankly doubt Santorum is that close in PA. He lost by 16 points to Casey in 2006.

Like I (and many others) have said repeatedly, the media will create a horse race out of this no matter who gets the GOP nomination. If Obama were running against a dining room table* (oh wait, he will be,) there would be "polls" created that would, of course, show the race to be close to even. The pollsters have to have something to sell, and the M$M (the pollster's clients) gets at least a billion in a windfall with political ad buys.

because Newt's billionare doesn't like Frothy. He will continue to pump money into Gingrich's campaign just so the anti-Mitt vote will be split.

You can bank on Rmoney winning the nomination.

So, according to this poll, more Democrats think Santorum and Rmoney are liberal than they think Obama is liberal?

We on DU do, but many average voters don't because they aren't really paying attention to the primaries. Up to a few weeks ago all the attention had been on Newt or Romney. Once people really find out about many of Santorum's bizarre stands he will begin to fall. I also think this poll is a bit out of wack. Other polls have Obama with clear leads over all the Republicans.

The USA Today/Gallop Is republican leaning.After the 2008 Republican convention they had Mccain with a double diget lead.

PPP,Survery USA,and Q were more accurate In 2010.Worry when they have Santorum ahead.
