http://www.nationofchange.org/obama-s-2013-budget-slashes-aid-working-families-1330536986First, Obama has proposed a 50-percent cut to the CSBG program that funds an array of services - which differ in each county - including emergency rental and utility assistance, dental clinics, Head Start (pre-kindergarten education), home weatherization, job training, GED (high school diploma equivalency) classes, and entrepreneurship training.
In 2012, Congress funded CSBG at 677 million dollars. For 2013, President Obama has proposed funding the program at only 350 million dollars, a cut of nearly one half.
Obama has also proposed additional cuts to the Low-Income Heating Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
"This is the second year that the administration has made these recommendations," David Bradley, executive director of the National Community Action Foundation, told IPS regarding CSBG.

(57,936 posts)While we are talking about those of his policies that have failed, let's don't forget his failure to veto the NDAA with its potentially draconian security provisions. Obama's memo interpreting the law to say what it does not actually say is of no value, no value whatsoever.
And Obama will give in on the tar sands pipeline. It will probably be moved a few miles but he will approve it. If you don't agree with me on that, just wait and see. Obama will approve that pipeline.
Shame on you, President Obama. Stand up for what you know is right. The American people will stand behind you if you do.
Start with some indictments for the fraud and cheating by the banks that led up to 2008. Letting them get by with that is a travesty of justice.
