Please use this space to thank her and send prayers/energy, love and wishes for her and her family at this time. She and her husband, Fritz (Walter), were and are such an important part of our State of MN.

(11,903 posts)just WON'T die! BTW, hospice is great.
No pain...fear, of course I am human. (Hey, I am "only" 66 with advanced MS).
Good karma to her. You never know and trust me, you're never prepared.

(10,597 posts)... I know what they are all going through. My niece has done Hospice nursing and was the nurse for my Mother, her Grandmother. Niece never left her side and got very little sleep for seven days.
God bless all Hospice Nurses everywhere, especially the one that is at the side of Joan Mondale now.

(1 post)I just heard the news and I am greatly saddened. She was such a strong supporter of the arts, which I learned through my time at Macalester in the early 1990s- And both she and Fritz were so kind to host us in their home at the Ambassador's residence in Japan- and she also visited my then-fiance and I in the Japanese pottery town of Mashiko. I have such wonderful memories of those days and always felt so privileged to have the experience of spending time with Joan and Fritz
Though life has gotten busy and I find myself in Europe rather than Japan (or even Minnesota), I have never forgotten their support and kindness, and always count Joan as one of the most impressive, yet down-to-earth, people I have ever known.
Prayers and thoughts go out to her family
