Rep. Paul Ryan is a very stupid man

Rep. Paul Ryan is a very stupid man

by Hunter

I lived through the Iran Contra incident, and I have lived through a president declaring a new executive privilege to torture. I was alive when Oliver North put on a nice clean suit and testified in front of a room full of angry people, and I watched Gen. Colin Powell hold up a little vial and make the case that Iraq and al Qaeda were close enough to being the same thing for the world to just pretend for a little while that they were, I watched the teevee as people who pointed out flaws in a White House story were retaliated against aggressively, and sometimes illegally. I remember a scandal in which the Justice Department was considered partisan prize to be won, and litmus tests created to treat it as such. I listened to a very new, very old interpretation of executive power that declared a president could nullify individual portions of newly passed federal laws by attaching an addendum to his signature saying so. I remember some sport noting that the color-coded terror warnings output by the government coincided superbly with the periods of time the White House was facing bad or unwelcome news on other fronts. I remember countless hearings, and a few indictments, and a few pardons, and I have lived long enough to no longer even be able to remember all the politicians and staffers that have been run from office or thrown in jail for being cheap crooks in a line of work that seems to collect cheap crooks like leaves on a fall lawn. And I am not very old.

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) criticized President Barack Obama Sunday for issuing executive orders on major issues like health care rather than going through Congress, arguing that it was leading to an "increasingly lawless presidency."

Speaking on ABC's "This Week," Ryan said that Obama was subverting Congress by signing executive orders, which Ryan said is "creating a dangerous trend which is contrary to the Constitution."

Shut up.

Glad you're here! MAN he's an idiot, isn't he! And he looks at you with that "Lady Diana" look - chin down, eyes forward - big and round - and looking up a little bit (so you can see the white underneath the iris as well as around it). It's a manipulation, a "little MEEEEEE" look, in his case being "hey, I'm HARMLESS! How on Earth could you look at me and question my motivation?" And all the while he's robbing you blind, just distracting you with his "adorable" blue eyes so you won't pay close attention. You don't fool me for a nanosecond, pal. You're as evil as they come. I do nothing BUT question your motivation, every minute of every day! I don't care how innocent you try to look and how many times you try to bat your eyelashes and give us all those wide-blue-eyed little cutesy-boy "I'm so innocent" looks. NOT FOOLED.

Ted Cruz takes his Shakespeare* too seriously. That is just another way of saying Cruz is not stupid. He is just a really, really poor actor. Someone should tell him to get off the stage.

BUT WAIT A MINUTE

After I posted this, I did a quick search and found out he does have acting experience. Take a look at this quote:

"Senator Ted Cruz is known for his acts of political theater, but the drama we’ve come to expect from him on the Senate floor may trace its origins from his days at Harvard Law School. A new profile of Cruz by Matt Viser of the Boston Globe revealed that the senator played a leading role in the drama society’s production of “The Crucible” by Arthur Miller, back in 1992.

The play, which depicts the demagoguery of the Salem Witch Trials, was written as a critique of Senator Joe McCarthy’s red-baiting tactics of the 1950’s. The character Cruz played, the self-aggrandizing Reverend Samuel Parris, may be fitting for a senator criticized for his own demagoguery."

I think he deserves a special award -- something like Worst Actor in the Political Arena.

Tue Feb 4, 2014, 02:03 PM

he was unable to make it thru the second night. Walked off I think during the second or third act, leaving the cast to improvise for the rest of the show. Improvise as in they lost a main character and had to ad lib....

There is a video at the link above which I encourage you to access. I believe you will truly enjoy watching Cruz perform, and I do not believe you see in any difference in his performance on stage and off.

Perhaps I should put this in a separate thread for all to enjoy??? Or just wait for a strategic moment to do so?

The GOP tells their sheep to follow them off the cliffs and it leaves Democrats a full time job to try to hold them from jumping. The GOP gets together and soothes themselves by saying it is the mean old liberals causing problems but do not recognize those in the GOP making stupid statements about women's reproductive system.

Which speaks to the problem Democrats face: enunciating a consistent
and coherent liberal vision with conviction and moral gravitas to a
populace that is totally wrapped up in and brainwashed by conservative
self-reinforcing ideology.

Shaking people from their mental tree is difficult, but we must try.

To operate at Ryans level of mendacity a person must be intelligent and have more than average creativity.

But I don't think 'Hunter' used the term to actually refer to Mr Ryan's mental acuity. It was used as a disparagement, to work as such a word merely needs to be recognized as transmitting a pejorative meaning.

I agree with you that Mr Ryan knows that his products are tools for the selfish capitalism of the politically active super rich who would destroy federalism and all expectation of obligation that the rich fairly contribute to society.
