The Year In Homophobia: Ten Of The Worst Anti-LGBT Stories Of 2013

Some of the Religious Right fanatics and others clearly are pretty mentally disturbed! The details in the link are incredible. Much of these ravings sound like extremely disturbed people/groups. "The gay" gives them a focus for their pathological hatred.

By all accounts, 2013 was a banner year for the gay rights movement: The Supreme Court struck down the worst part of the Defense of Marriage Act, seven new states legalized marriage equality, polls showed Americans backing gay rights in ever-growing numbers, anti-gay crusader Ken Cuccinelli was defeated in his bid to become Virginia’s governor, the Boy Scouts loosened their discriminatory policies, and the “ex-gay” movement began to self-destruct.

But although it’s become an annual tradition to declare the end of the Religious Right, we have seen that equality opponents are only ratcheting up their rhetoric in the face of new challenges and fights next year.

Here we take a look back at some of the worst anti-gay rhetoric and activism of 2013.

We have the ones who "freak out" about gays, and the ones who ignore us. Sometimes, I think the latter is worse.

for example, my first reaction/comment was you've got to be kidding, Gay marriage in the USA?

I'm old enough to remember it considered to be a grave mental disorder, something relegated to highly mentally disturbed individuals lurking in the dark corners of life, relegated to institutions, excessive shock therapy, institutional tortures and the like.

Damn, when I was a kid just jerking off was considered very dangerous to ones mental health, blindness and the whole bit, and that was in the northeast near major cities.

Yep, we have come a long way, and still a long way to go.

And he did in 1990! But even then, I thought to myself marriage would only be a dream.

Sure there is a stay on gay marriage here, but we are that much closer! Then again, who knows because some lawmakers here freaked out so bad now they are trying to do away with all marriage.
