Obama highlights actions he is taking on his own

ASSOCIATED PRESS, ASSOCIATED PRESS

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is drawing attention to his go-it-alone strategy, emphasizing administrative steps he’s taking to spur economic activity without the need for congressional action.

In his weekly Saturday radio and Internet address, Obama lists initiatives already underway this year.

Among them are an overhaul of job training programs, creation of a new retirement savings program and commitments from CEOs to do more to hire the long-term unemployed.

Republicans have bristled, saying Obama is overreaching by sidestepping Congress.

In the Republican address, Sen. Richard Burr of North Carolina spotlights the Veterans Affairs Department’s disability claims backlog. Burr acknowledges that the number of unanswered claims has declined, but he says the logjam remains high and that veterans encounter errors in their claims.

there are hundreds of things a president can do on his or her own.

imo Pres. Obama should do everything he can - power is useless if it isn't used.

Can't just sit this one out, he has to do something - otherwise the idiots and clowns will keep destroying even MORE of our already crumbling infrastructure.

He tried to trust Congress to do the right thing, now the situation is so bad that he has to take matters into his own hands.

The M$M SHOULD be doing 24/7 stories on how this is the worst Congress ever...but that won't happen. Same paymasters.
