It seems to me that the increasingly glaring mismatch between the male and female partners of pairs skating is changing the whole aesthetic of the sport.
In their quest to throw the woman higher and farther, they get giant lugs to skate the male part, and tiny, tiny women to skate female part.
On the other hand, the ice dancers are nicely matched for height. In fact, they would find it more difficult to win with a greater disparity in size. Their aesthetic is far more pleasing.
Anyway, I think the trend to include sillysportz and to ruin the aesthetic of other sports in a quest for greater technical recognition is changing fundamentally the whole nature of the Olympics.

(8,361 posts)The women have greater bravery than men because they get tossed high in the air and often land in a tangle of arms legs, and bruises.
How did that one get overlooked by the academy?

(36,974 posts)... is I wish the female skaters would NOT wear their beige tights over their skates - it looks weird to me.
Also, I think some of the gals that wear black dresses should wear 'black skates' - I think it would look better.
Ever see a women go out at night with a black dress on and white shoes? Never
And even other colors would be nice too depending on the color of the costume - red, baby blue, etc.
