(7,719 posts)...people who forget to put on a stamp or forget to raise the flag on the box. It's legal for them to kill you in 27 states. You did tip your carrier at Christmas didn't you?

(60,010 posts)He gives us excellent above and beyond service and has known me since 1994.
He brings packages and mail down the driveway to the porch in bad weather, even tho he is not supposed to.
And I suspect he would not be interested in gun noises.
I usually give my carrier a gift card to somewhere. We were big into ebay a few years ago, and our carrier was a godsend.

(13,770 posts)All the ones authorized to carry weapons have to qualify, I'm sure, so they need range time.

(16,204 posts)They have about 1,000 police officers who investigate mail crimes. Like any other police force, they have firearms and need to train.

(23,973 posts)She carries a firearm to work every day.
She also has to qualify with that firearm.
Without ammunition, it's kinda hard to use a firearm as anything other than a hammer or doorstop.

(19,297 posts)After the Aurora and Sandy Hook shootings, ammo has been FLYING off the shelves, because so many gun owners are paranoid that Obama is about to ban it (never mind the fact that would be impossible to do legally with any of the presidential powers he has access to). I've seen guys grabbing many THOUSANDS of rounds of ammo at a time to add to their growing stockpiles. And when the ammo factories can't meet demand and the shelves run dry, rather than realize that their rampant buying and hording has had ANY effect whatsoever on ammo supplies, the gun nuts turn around and claim it's all a government conspiracy to enact backdoor gun control measures.
