The Web’s cacophony of anti-ACA sentiment

The ire at #brokenpromises is beating the push to #getcovered.

Anger is contagious on social media, and it has been easier to use Twitter and Facebook to stoke opposition to Obamacare than to implore people to sign up. Social media experts say supporters of the president’s health law just haven’t been as effective as the seething anti-Obamacare forces in getting out sharp, clear messages.

The online war of words could play a role in enrollment for 2014: The deadline is March 31.

“We’re rapidly reaching the tipping point where social media opinion will simply be ‘public opinion,’” said Rob Key, CEO of the social strategy company Converseon. “A relatively small percentage of the population helps influence the agenda and opinions of the rest of the society. Social media is now providing these key influencers a supercharged pulpit to influence others exponentially … in ways not possible even just two years ago.”

A week of full DU participation could help stir it up. Problem is, I just haven't used either of my two twitter accounts other than for just one tweet. I don't really know anything about how to make it work and am sure I'm not alone. Plus, could we ever expect a consensus with participation here at DU on anything? Or even enough to start or encourage anything?

Angry wingnuts group together and scream at the top of their hate filled lungs. We discuss.

6. Mandatory private insurance simply isn't popular, because it doesn't solve the problem.

Perhaps we can force people to tweet nice things about Obamacare?

but, apparently, my VALID POINTS are now considered "cacophony." Put it this way, try being over 50 and seeing what you pay for premiums. I signed up twice and twice I've cancelled. The "good" insurance (gold or platinum) is more than I can afford and the shitty insurance is unusable with a $6,000 per person per year deductible. We won't even get into the 60/40 aspect of it.

Dismiss people's concerns if you will, and yes, some of them are teaklanners, but many, like me are not and deserve to be heard.
