We put in 180 gallons or so today at $3.19. That's 70 cents higher than this time last year in our area of Maine, but not as bad as it could have been considering some of the prices other DUers have been paying.
Thank heavens for decent insulation and the new pellet stove, though. I'm hoping not to need another propane delivery for a couple more months. (That seems to be the schedule we have been on since we put in the stove this fall. Every other month rather than monthly.)

(29,730 posts)I bought some oil radiator heaters and I'm determined that we're not going to buy any more propane until summer. We only heat with it and it is the middle of February. We can wear more clothes. We have a fireplace, but I don't trust the chimney, so we blocked it off. Next summer I'll get that fixed too. This is the last $1500 for heat winter, I swear! I'll update next fall

(4,940 posts)very efficient! About 300 gallons a year does it, if we keep the temps at 65.

I thought what we had to pay this season was pretty steep, but evidently the price isn't nearly as bad here in wa as it is where people have to survive cold winter weather.

(202 posts)We moved to a home about a year ago that is not on utilities - so we are now on a well, satellite, and propane.
There were solar panels installed when we purchased. There's a name for the type of service - can't remember what it is. Its a solar lease - we get a fixed amount of electricity at a fixed price for the life of the lease.
