Google same gender couple valentine doodle

www.google.com - click on 4Ever yours.

I've been married to my (female) sweetheart since 1981 - and out just as long.

What that really means is I have been coming out on a regular (often daily) basis for more than 32 years. For me, fortunately, the reactions have never been worse than slightly stunned. But still - even with all that mostly positive stuff - my heart always races a bit when I realize I have to choose between avoiding pronouns and expressly coming out. And afterwards I can almost always remember the moment of disclosure - and their reaction - that moment more clearly than other interactions in that same time frame.

I wondered, when I clicked on that first heart whether there might be a gay couple, and thought it would be nice if there was one. Although I didn't expect it to impact me if there was one, I got a bit teary when I clicked on "4Ever yours" - and it was just another sweetheart story.

As if it had always been no big deal for two men to marry.
