(16,380 posts)at our home in Ecuador. My husband had flowers in every room of the house because he knew how tough it was to return to white/black/brown Minnesota from our ever blooming garden down there.
We don't do Valentine's Day. Never have.
But we have always done flowers.

Nice idea for a post Omaha, thanks.

(22,057 posts)Then he sat with me for 2 1/2 hours while we nervously waited, saw the nurse, and finally heard (good news) from the doc.
Tonight I'll cook chicken quesadillas with homemade pico de gallo for him.
Smells a lot like love to me.

(31,849 posts)flowers, Lilies with a mix of Red Roses and Baby's Breath ... the card read: "Happy Mother's Day, I love you again this year. We're going to dinner tonight and if we can keep our eyes open, a movie.
In the morning, we're traveling to visit BabyGirl 1SBM, who posted to her FB page (much to my delight of a Dad of a little girl whose away from home): "Happy Single Awareness Day!!!!"

(80,708 posts)I bought some beautiful fair trade roses at the cool crunchy local grocery store a cpl days ago. It would be silly to "send" them since the love of my life lives here with me.
In the summer it's even better, I can get em right from outside.

(14,449 posts)I always wondered .Do you feel like they raise the prices at places on V-Day? I do not take my wife out on Valentine's Day never have. We do other times for sure because we always feel like they would rip us off. Are we wrong about this?

(54,038 posts)When he got up, there was a balloon saying "I love you!" and a box of candy that said "Drama Queen". Heehee. When he went to the car....a box of thin mints (proudly bought from the Girl Scouts!). He came home to a dinner I spent hours making mustard peppercorn rib roast, corn on the cob, green beans, artesian bread, and mashed potatoes. He found his card from the puppies (a pug humping a man's leg to the music of "It's your thang!" , one from the kitty and birds with a ninja cat singing, "Everybody was Kung-fu fighting!", and the card I left for him in the mailbox with a box of candy, that said "bee my honey!" I did give him one serious card.

(80,708 posts)Corn in February? Sheesh. Southerners.
Behind the Aegis
(54,038 posts)He didn't get me anything, so I gave myself a gift by saying, "Thank you for my gift!" He felt bad. The gift of guilt. LOL! Actually, it is funny because, while loving gifts, I enjoy giving them more. Besides, bless his heart, he hasn't had a lunch break in 2 months, and spends most of his nights at home working, so he can't really get me anything. I have what I need, his love. It fits.
As for your crack about Southerners, well, what can I say, we love us some corn!
You guys had fun right?

(80,708 posts)That humping dog leg thing sounds awesome.
Having children, however, those cards that play sounds can be a bit dicey.
Especially when you're dealing with people who haven't quite figured out the law of humor that says "once is funny, 10 times is funny because it's annoying, fifty thousand times is most emphatically NOT funny"
I got Mrs. Demon some roses a couple days ago... We exchanged cards, got vegan indian food and had a lovely, mellow evening, which was really all we wanted because we've both been crazy busy too. But yeah, we're both in a headspace where we've long since figured out that the ineffable 'stuff' we really need isn't, actually, 'stuff'. Very Lucky, in that regard. Like you guys.
We were actually supposed to go out-out last Friday but with the snow, no one was going anywhere. Ah well.
Edited to add: "The Gift of Guilt" Ma nishtanah ha-laylah ha-ze mi kol ha-leylot ...Ah, You should meet my mother!
