(18,402 posts)Honestly, it's the only cable channel I can think of that has lived up to the promise of what cable was supposed to do. It's commercial-free (well, in recent years they use promos for their own material between films, but at least it's not toilet paper or car ads, and movies are never interrupted). It is dedicated to a single area (the commercial cinema) in depth, from the silent era to today, Hollywood and, increasingly, foreign art films. It's educational, and it's entertaining. It's free.* It makes me not want to kill myself.
* OKAY, before anyone protests that it's not free, I mean it's not a premium service; it's part of most every basic cable package.
