And as Wurzelbacher described Sunday in a blog post that was flagged by The Toledo Blade, things have been plenty awkward at his new job with Chrysler.
"I had three days of orientation, and now Im 'on the job' over here at Chrysler and on Day 4, Im outside on a break smoking a cigarette and right on cue some guy calls me a 'teabagger,'" Wurzelbacher wrote.
The insult underscored what Wurzelbacher sees as a double-standard. It also left him a bit confused.
Now, I would be remiss if I didnt mention that Democrats and liberals, who are supposed to so tolerant and enlightened regarding homosexuals have for three or four years now, have been using a gay slur to describe people who they think are associated with the Tea Party. Tea Bagger has traditionally been a derogatory slur used to intimidate, put down, humiliate and otherwise taunt, smear, bully or just discriminate against gays usually gay men based on a sex act that gay men apparently made popular.
Decorum prevents me from describing it they got this thing called Google now for that but suffice it to say that the double-standard for what Democrats can say and what conservatives can say continues unabated, but still I thought to myself, did this guy think Im gay, or was he making a statement of my political affiliation? I tried talking to him, but he went off about how he was a journeyman and started walking away.

(7,044 posts)"...as Jay Nordlinger at National Review admits, the term "teabagger" was introduced to the political lexicon by Tea Party movement leaders:
"The first big day for this movement was Tax Day, April 15. And organizers had a gimmick. They asked people to send a tea bag to the Oval Office. One of the exhortations was Tea Bag the Fools in D.C. A protester was spotted with a sign saying, Tea Bag the Liberal Dems Before They Tea Bag You. So, conservatives started it: started with this terminology. But others ran with it and ran with it."
Tommy Christopher at Mediaite has it about right:
"...the Tea Partiers not only invented the term, they did so in order to inflict a similar double entendre onto the President, the Democrats, and liberals in general..."
Now, theyre trying to re-cast the term as a slur, on a par with the n-word, hurtful to all the Tea Party members who are just ordinary moms, dads, sons, and daughters. The latter point has some resonance, but the former is ridiculous in the extreme.
Pretty pathetic to whine about your own stupidity, TeaBaggers.

(34,502 posts)TP buffoons called themselves that before they realized what they were doing. They're just baggers to me. Sorry, but I just can't tolerate intolerance.

(23,272 posts)Poor Joe... having to actually deal with people who disagree with him. It always seems so hard for teabaggers to have face to face conversations about the issues - nope, gotta manufacture an insult in order to avoid having a substantive conversation about real issues.

(42,022 posts)But how is "tea bag" a Gay slur? Hetero's have been known to participate in all kinds of sexual variations. Is there a history here I don't know about?

nothing gay about that.
I'm pretty sick of the RWers trying to shut down Progressives, calling them out by using historically well documented issues with tolerance and "enlightenment". I guess they confuse tolerance with pablum, mild disinterest, and being spineless. They are just not used to fairness being "strong and outspoken"

(1,587 posts)The fact that they were too stupid to research (that good old Google) the term beforehand is not my problem.
Suck it up, Joe.
