Does anyone else have this problem? For some reason every time I load a new web page (not just here at DU) I get 3 or 4 videos taking up real estate on the page and I have to find the X to close them up before I can do anything. Is there anyway to get rid of this problem? It shows up no matter where I go on the web, so it's not just certain sites.
(Also, it does not show up in my list of software so I can't uninstall it like I normally would.)
Thanks for any help.

(240 posts)sometimes malware can get attached that way.
I run spybot and a malware program weekly.
When you check programs, you can set it by day of install, just work backwards.

(21,774 posts)I'd start by suggesting you use Firefox with their adblock add on as well as their pop-up blocker. I'd also suggest you grab the free copy of malwarebytes:
https://www.malwarebytes.org/
That should get you cleaned up.

(26,355 posts)Sounds like some web site somewhere left you a little "present" that's throwing those ads in your face.
Malwarebytes works.

(1,214 posts)I'll look for the adblock in Firefox. Must be somewhere in the "Tools?" I'll try the Malwarebytes program too. Thanks.

(21,774 posts)This will open a new window... Go to the tab on the left and click on 'Get Add Ons' - Search for it, then follow the instructions to download and install it. In that same window that opened, you should be able to see it is active if you look at the 'Extensions' tab.
Good luck.
Edit... Changed 'right' to 'left' because I fucked it up

Ghostery is a bit more complicated and shouldn't be necessary for your problem but I will add it to the list to consider at another time: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ghostery/
