(6,839 posts)Which will give the Nets some time to determine if he has anything left in the tank to sign thru the rest of the season or if he is not a useful addition to them.
His use will be as another big body to give KG a rest when a more defensive mode is needed, or KG needs a night off.
Given his last couple/three years I am not sure how useful he will be to the Nets.
The Nets are also looking at Glen Davis for a 10 day contract.

He was going to be marginal this season anyway. However, he should have been given a tryout before now.

(32,072 posts)And Collins was part of the NJ Nets teams in the 2002 and '03 NBA Finals. And his former teammate Jason Kidd is now head coach of the Brooklyn Nets. Other NBA teams have re-signed members of former conference championship/league championship teams years later, and those players often were backup/relief players.
Allen Iverson, who led the Sixers to the 2001 Finals, returned to the team for the '09-10 season.
Ben Wallace, part of the Pistons 2004 championship team, played for Detroit 2009-2012 after three seasons away.
Chauncey Billups, also part of the 2004 Pistons, re-signed with the team this season after five seasons with other teams.
The Jason Collins situation is not unique except being the first gay NBA player.
