OMG! Scott Walker Gets Grilled on EmailGate - by Chris Wallace (!) On Fox News!
Actual journalism was committed by Chris Wallace who tried hard to get Republican Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker to actually answer a question he didn't want to answer about the almost 28,000 documents released this past Wednesday. Kudos to TPM for watching Fox News Sunday so we don't have to.
This is video you need to watch:
WALLACE: In one email that was released this week, your then chief of staff Thomas Nardelli, lets put this up on the screen, writes campaign and county workers that you wanted to hold daily conference calls, to review events of the day or of a previous or future day so we can better coordinate sound timely responses, and in another e-mail county administrative director Cynthia Archer suggests that colleagues should use a private e-mail account. I use this private account quite a bit to communicate with SKW, thats you, and Nardelli, the former chief of staff. Question: if county workers were doing nothing wrong, why should they be using a private e-mail account?
WALKER: Well, but thats exactly to my point. you had a Democratic district attorney spend almost three years looking at every single one of those communications, interviewing people, talking to people and closed the case.
WALLACE: Did you have your own private e-mail account?
WALKER: Its one of those where I point out district attorney has reviewed every single one of these issues.
WALLACE: But sir, youre not answering my question.
WALKER: No, because Im not going to get into 27,000 different pieces of information.

(9,478 posts)I mean c'mon, he uses those two examples out of what was found? He didn't ask about the emails proving a policy of caging? Yeah, I don't think so. More like they're trying to keep the right wingers from reading about the scandal in main stream media. Now when the right wingers hear about it they'll think it was about a private email and a Democratic district attorney trying to bring down Walker. They won't bother to research to learn the truth. The Walker scandal? Oh, yeah I already know all about that. It was a Democratic DA trying to make something out of Walker's private email. They don't fool me for a second.

"WALLACE: But sir, youre not answering my question." The last time I saw that was Christie's town hall meet when the Folks told him to "Answer the Question!"!

(2,315 posts)The fact that Faux Noise did this has caused even the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinal to headline it.
For those unaware of the inside workings of Wisconsin politics, the state media outlets have been giving Walker a pass on all issues going back to his time as Milwaukee County Executive.
Seeing this headline and lead on the Journal site is an even bigger shocker.
Scott Walker on Fox News dodges question on secret emails
Gov. Scott Walker declined again Sunday to answer whether he knew of the existence of a secret email system in his Milwaukee County executive office...
Mike Tate, chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, said there are additional questions that Walker needs to answer.
"What we continue to see is the further erosion of public trust in the governor's judgment," Tate said. "Did he know his staff was breaking the law, and if he didn't, how is that possible with what has come to light? How will his public and campaign staffs interact moving forward? And how do citizens know that their tax dollars won't be misused by mixing private-public staff going into an election year?"

(2,315 posts)WE need to keep these stories moving so that the traditional corporate media is forced to cover them.
Totalitarian governments cannot survive without controlling information. When the riots occurred many years ago in China, it was the FAX machine which they weren't ready to control.
With today's technology, most notably cell-cam video, the actual news spreads on the internet faster than those in power can spin it.
It is one thing to rec a DU post and comment.
Then each of us needs to take the next steps - forward to friends, post, like, and share on facebook, tweet and re-tweet links on twitter. It takes me a whopping three minutes or less.

(9,478 posts)the smoking guns that were found. Where were the questions about the caging emails? How about the vulgar, racist emails his staff thought were so funny? The fight will be for Wisconsinites to get the press to cover all the issues.

(2,315 posts)from the conservative normally Walker-supporting Milwaukee Journal:
Thousands of documents unsealed Wednesday link Gov. Scott Walker to a secret email system used in his office that would avoid public scrutiny when he was Milwaukee County executive.
It is against state law in Wisconsin for public employees to work for political parties and campaigns while being paid by taxpayers to provide government services.
and again from the Journal (although they can't admit he lied, just "stretched" the truth):
In one instance, it appears Walker even stretched the truth when pressed on an issue he didn't want to discuss...
"I've been busy on other things," he explained.
But the email records from the secret investigation suggest that Walker may have known more much more than he was letting on.
