But, from a distance, I could listen to him and Robert Osborne talk about films all day and his support of classical music is deeply appreciated. Obviously a difficult guy.

And Robert Osborne can make anyone seem interesting.

His interview with Kim Novak was one of the best I've seen though.

I wish he had a mortality exemption so he could do what he does forever.

He knows how to play a good guy on TV, when he wants to.

He went so far as to say Rachel is the one who had Olbermann fired

even if she wanted to when Olbermann left. She was just getting started and KO was burning bridges as usual.

I don't think Rachel would have tried that anyway. She's no pushover but network politics is not an area I think she likes. KO gave her a start and she took it from there. I think she will always remember that 1st platform to speak about her views.

Unless something really nasty erupted, I can't see her going after KO and even then she would probably take the high road.

He can also be really funny. He can also be pretty smart, but he has personality and anger issues.

Lots of actors are dicks. It often comes along with the narcissism necessary to be in the profession.

I've always liked him but he needs to look in the mirror for some of his own problems. Plus, he needs to lay off of Rachel!

I like the chummy chat approach to interviews, but his show was just plain BORING.

His criticism of Anderson Cooper of not being "out and open" was incredibly blind for someone who supports gay rights and, I'm sure he believes, understands the difficulties of being gay.

Alec Baldwin isn't a phoney, he's really an asshole!

There is plenty to get worked up over about it, but Politico is pushing the buttons on purpose.

Anyone that would talk to (excuse me, rage at) their daughter (or any kid) the way he did years ago, is an asshole.

Sadly, he didn't.

One hour with a local mayoral race candidate on your first show. Even if it is for the NY city race it seems um excessive. Especially for a show that needs to cultivate a national audience. NY city politics may fascinate people who work or live there but the further out you get in the country the less interest you'll find. His subsequent shows weren't all that more interesting.

Sure he's an asshole and his show was boring and that is an unforgivable sin.

Sounds like someone (or several someones) on an anti-Maddow whisper campaign. It's not as if Baldwin were a Phil Donahue, axed despite having the highest-rated show. It wasn't particularly interesting -- he certainly didn't make it moreso -- and I have to wonder who in management thought giving him a show was a good idea in the first place.

So who's trying to shove blame onto Rachel?

My guess is whoever they are,they are threatened by Maddow' s popularity and influence in the talking head business.

Maybe, maybe not. If he's such a jerk and he def can be, who knows if he's telling the truth on this? Or that the source is. Politico's headlines are getting to be a bit much. The CEO is a former assistant to Reagan.

... he definitely needs to step outside the spotlight and chill out for about 20 years. Take some anger management counseling. An estate in the country would do him a world of good.
He needs to learn that it's nice to be nice. Learn what the word "humble" means. IOW, he needs to STFU. IMHO.

I used to think that if people only knew what they people they worship were really like, they wouldn't. Now, I'm almost certain that I was wrong.

BTW, his MSNBC show was weak and unwatchable.
