At least for me. Wait, maybe that's not totally true. Maybe its just hard being a Democrat and interacting with other Democrats on this board lol.
During the last week, I have learned so very many things. I learned that on the topic of oppression, My role is to STFU at go sit in a corner. I learned that I can't be a feminist because I'm a guy, and even if I was, I'm probably just trying to get down someone's pants. Further, I learned that since I'm a swm, I have some sort of privileges though while they have never manifested, nor kept myself from going hungry, being abused, or gotten me a job, I've still benefited and should accept it and feel blessed. I've learned that being a SWM, I look at women in pictures in magazines for sexual gratification pretty much regularly.
I've learned so many things this week... it's been really hard to keep it all in... or not to vomit.
But... to be on a positive note... here is the obligatory image of a cat for your enjoyment.

(1,494 posts)just overbearing.. passionate, and maybe lashing out. Most are (at least seem to be) good people on most things.

(4,015 posts)You do know that every one of the "points" you're trying to make here has already been made ad nauseum during the last week?
1awake
(1,494 posts)But what does that have to do with me making them? Unless you mean I should just be quiet and not poke fun at the stupidity this week?

(4,015 posts)I just got the impression that you thought of your OP as original and I wanted to disabuse you of that notion.
Of course you are free to post anything you want, no matter how stale.

(1,494 posts)Well.. sorta right.. all of these came from posts or comments on posts made during this week, so.. not all directly towards me.

(1,494 posts)then you'd be correct. Not trying to argue geek tragedy, and strangely enough I'm actually on the side of most of the people who said these things. But over the top is over the top and Im poking fun and making a small point.

(43,870 posts)... well, I can't say 'never.' I've personally never heard or seen them come up in close to 25 years of being active locally in Dem politics.
But hey! Every experience is different.

(1,494 posts)Rarely. In the real world, being blunt or offensive or even self righteous is harder to do when you personally know someone as a person.

People tend to take discussion boards waaaay too seriously.

(22,271 posts)would you allow others to define who you are. Don't you define who you are and if that's so, why are you so distressed about what some nameless/faceless poster on an anonymous board thinks about you that you felt you had to start an OP about it. (Yes, I KNOW that was a long sentence. Thhhpppptt!)
Iow, Dude, grow a few more epidural layers and shake it off.
