The crowd is growing by the minute. The Facebook event has 1100 RSVPs. In about an hour we will begin our march around the capitol in protest of SB1062.
The Arizona legislature is resisting against an unstoppable tide of national support for gay rights. But their efforts are futile. We refuse to let religious zealots control the dialogue in this state.
We're here
We're queer
Fucking get used to it already!
Update: The protest was a huge success. I'd say at least a couple thousand supporters showed up. We had half a dozen state senators and representatives who voted against the law speak to the crowd as well as the gubernatorial candidate Fred DuVal.

(9,148 posts)Steven Yarborough Dist 17 is the Arizona senator who introduced SB 1062. He is a republican who is up for reelection this year.
He is the primary author of the SB 1062.
Reps. Nancy Barto, Dist. 15, up for election 2014, and Bob Worsley, Dist. 25, up for election 2014, both co-sponsored the bill.
Please place a note on your calendar to donate to the opposing candidates before the November elections. Any help would be appreciated by the people of Arizona to remove these intolerant legislators from office. We can take out the bullys if we all work together.
My Gratitude to Du

Hope (and work) for a veto!
Gravitycollapse
(8,155 posts)I'm pretty confident Brewer will veto the bill. But if she doesn't, these kind of protests are going to balloon in size and it's going to get crazy.

Sounds like a successful gathering. Fingers in Virginia are crossed for a big veto!

(8,155 posts)Nearly everyone is coming out against the law. Even a few of the senators who originally voted for it are saying it should be vetoed.

(7,888 posts)Business owners don't need a law to keep those they disdain from spending money with them. All they need is a press release, a sign on the door and a record of funding elections to elect bigots.
It's simple (for the haters), all you haters need do is follow the instructions above and I guarantee you I will not shame myself by spending any greenbacks at your place of business. I can only hope those who receive this message will do the same.
