Life isn't easy, when you're the one trying to take down a big sleazy (my lawsuit against Romney). I've been homeless, car-less, jobless and (oft times) feeling hopeless, in my works against despotism, cronyism, tyranny and corruption. Once in a while, I team up with another (down on his luck) party; and we share a room cost together and get to take a shower where we sleep (instead of having to travel to the rec center and pay $1).
From my prior days of flying dozens of times a year and staying at hotels everywhere, I know how to utilize frequent miles and rewards cards - best. Today, when I went to use those frequent/reward points to get a couple of free nights stay (it is raining here in SoCal); I find there's no points recorded for on my account. When I go to the hotel and ask the front desk why not - she said
"you booked with Hotels.com - and we don't give you cheaters on prices any credit for your frequent stays".
WTF!

(7,805 posts)The RUDE hotel clerk was at Comfort Inn. Part of the same program is another Choice program one Rodeway.
They both claim they have to pay for my frequent points as a referral program;
and that (since Hotels.com put me there) - they aren't the referral - so I don't get the points.
What's at issue is, part of the reason we chose the places in question - is the bonus points for staying there. If you stay 3 days, you get double points. That equals to 1 day free. Thus, reducing the overall cost considerably.
Frequent rewards points are for frequency of going to a particular brand/chain.
There's NOT "referral program rewards".

You do not earn Choice Privileges points for rooms discounted more than 20%, complimentary rooms, rooms paid for as part of a convention or meeting, or rooms booked through a travel agent or third party online retailer as part of pre-paid wholesale rates, wholesale packages or senior tours.

The part that I highlighted is where hotels.com gets the discounted rate that you pay to hotels.com.

(7,805 posts)a different program altogether. It rewards one for going to Choice brands.
Choice says they will give me credit for it;
but I have to get CC receipts to prove it.
We pay for it online - and they say they can't take an online printout - as anyone can photoshop such.
It is all BULL.

(62,444 posts)You don't get to earn hotels.com points and Choice Rewards points in the same booking, and that is spelled out in the Choice Rewards program terms.

(45,582 posts)At lunch, 5 Guys gave me regular fries instead of Cajun fries. I guess Mitt got to them too!

(7,805 posts)I (though Bain owned Burger King) - like the New "Satisfries"
(Kringle cuts hold the salt and flavor better).
Can also get kringle cuts at Del Taco.
I'm not much into "Cajun" (spicy stuff and I don't mix well)

(7,805 posts)How "portion" size details have been silly.
Such as 27 calories and 2 grams transfat
for 1 potato chip!
Just like those cereal mini boxes (variety pack)
who has a mouse tummy and eats just 1?
BTW - I do blame Mitt's (mentality) for how friggn small those BK burgers have gotten.
They are midget sized now (the $1 burgers) and the Whopper is smaller TOO!

(18,402 posts)I always knew those portion sizes were too small. But it made me feel guilty anyway: we'd be eating twice as much as the portion size suggested.
I wouldn't know about the BK burgers: I don't think I've eaten one since about 1998. Back then I used to order a Whopper Jr. (do they still have that?). It was just the right size for me.

(7,805 posts)I always order a large pizza - when they are same size as medium.
Most don't realize you are getting 25 to 33% more (Larger circumference/total area).
Same holds true for burgers;
when you downsize them - they claim they reduced only a fraction of diameter
(but that equals a whole lot of total area).
frazzled
(18,402 posts)by the larger size. Plus, I don't eat the whole thing anyway.
We'll order a large pizza, but eat only half of it and put the other half away to reheat another day. Two slices of pizza are my limit.
It's so sad getting older: you only eat half of what you used to, but weigh more. Whazzup with that?

(62,444 posts)E.g. Marriott:
"Prepaid wholesale rates booked through 3rd party online retailers are not eligible for points, miles or Elite night credit, including, but not limited to, Priceline.com, Hotwire.com, Expedia.com, Orbitz.com, Travelocity.com, Hotels.com, etc. Wholesale packages and series tours are not eligible for points."
If you do recall from your frequent flyer days, the airlines don't reward points for flights booked through third parties, even if you are a member of that airline's program.
The reason is that they sell wholesale blocks of tickets, rooms, whatever, through those channels. Hence, hotels.com offers its own rewards program - a credit toward your average nightly rate after ten nights.
The simple answer is, no, you can't take advantage of the hotels.com reward program and the hotel's reward program simultaneously in one booking.
NOW, when you check in, some front desk clerks will apply your hotel loyalty program to the booking, but they are not supposed to do that.
