Walmart Asks Arkansas Governor To Veto Religion Freedom Bill

Well, well, well.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/03/31/walmart-arkansas_n_6981348.html

March 31 (Reuters) - The chief executive officer of Wal-Mart Stores Inc on Tuesday asked the governor of Arkansas to veto a religious freedom measure, saying the bill approved by lawmakers earlier in the day undermines "the spirit of inclusion" in the state.

Doug McMillon, the chief executive officer for the company based in Arkansas, in a tweet requested that Governor Asa Hutchinson, a Republican, veto the legislation.

know that introducing religion into a business strategy can be a disaster.

CEOs want to maximize revenue share and letting religion F up your business model is stupid. Most companies want to be inclusive and diverse selling into many segments. Of course not all are this way, some have some quirks, but the ones looking at staying power, particularly international firms are not going to get into absurd religious wars.

Do you REALLY think Walmart wants an Indiana style boycott?

They sure as hell stand to lose a LOT more than the State of Indiana by infuriating gays and their supporters.

They are clearly more exposed.

is for the corporations that have been publicly bashing Indiana (and now Arkansas) to tell any politician that drafts or votes for a bigot law that they will pour cash into the coffers of their opponents.

Until we can get campaign finance reform, it would at least be nice to see corporate money go to a good cause.
