Instead they are blaming the protesters and boycotters claiming THEY and their RELIGIOUS beliefs are the victim. Pence himself said the law is NOT broken. How can you fix something you believe is completely correct? How can you correct what is NOT broken in your view?
They believe that SCOTUS will be on their side. They have money backing and political backing and vote rigging to carry RFRA to just about every state. And they have thousands of RW churches on their side.
I hope I am wrong, all they will do is order the law in Indiana to look the other way when LGBT are screwed or even killed. They are that evil. They are that evil.

(9,474 posts)they'll either have to back down or close down. Ball is in their court.

(8,421 posts)Just the same as here in WI, unfortunately. And I know "innocents" will be hurt. Too bad.

(35,015 posts)They will be able to discriminate against ANYONE they choose with the law at their back. That's the broader reach, with a lot of other states ready to follow Indiana's lead.
WE cannot back down.

(41,182 posts)are correct. I was very impressed with CT Gov. Malloy's outspoken objections during cable interviews. That's what I was thinking of but didn't make clear as I should have in the comment I posted.

(7,908 posts)organ, has thrown Gov. Dense under the bus?
What we are witnessing is an internecine war on the right, as the big-money players (in Marxist terms, the 'bourgeoisie') break ranks with the Tea Party (in Marxist terms, the 'lumpenproletariat'). Gov. Dense has picked the wrong side, as he is discovering to his discomfiture.

(10,602 posts)Certainly the "Star's" response is surprising. The gay issue is a new wedge issue for the GOP actually. It riles their base and gets them out to vote.

Google that phrase and you'll see it was used many years ago to describe the wedge issues the GOP uses to manipulate the public.
"Obama is coming after your Bible!"
"Obama is coming after your guns!"
"Obama is spreading the gay agenda!"

(17,656 posts)We don't care if the Indiana GOP backs down or not.
We don't care what they believe about that law's viability.
The law is blatantly unconstitutional.
This time, we're going to shove it down THEIR throats for a change!!!!!!

(22 posts)It's sad really, the Conservaturds are awesome at putting US on the defensive on a regular basis. Pence blamed the media & twitter & said they had to fix a law, if it's the media & twitter's fault, why do you need to fix it. It really peeves me off on how they get away with it on a constant basis.

(114,904 posts)First of all, a shitload of people are speaking out. Secondly, the peril in speaking out for the Jews, even fairly early, was pronounced, and thirdly, comparing this to what happened to the Jews in Germany, far prior to the death camps- in other words the Nuremberg Laws- was quite different to legal measures such as religious freedom laws. Does anyone seriously think we're moving toward imprisonment and mass execution of GLBT folks? Thankfully, as this nasty episode, and the one in Arkansas, illustrate, it's getting harder to get away with this kind of discrimination- which was common until recently. Marriage equality is the law of the land in the majority of states.
None of that means that this isn't a vital issue. It is.

(16,646 posts)I think you ultimately saw some effects of boycotts and protests over the confederate flag issue in many states. Yes, it took years, but the repetitive nature of the complaint on an economic scale definitely saw states choosing to take some action.
