Nebraska and Iowa, along with most of North America, should get a good view of a total lunar eclipse Saturday morning, weather permitting.
The eclipse should begin about 5 a.m. CDT, with the maximum eclipse about 7 a.m. Sunrise will be about 7:15 a.m.
The total eclipse of the full moon will last less than five minutes.
Saturday mornings eclipse is the third in a tetrad four consecutive total lunar eclipses in 2014 and 2015. The other eclipses in the tetrad: April 15, 2014; Oct. 8, 2014; and Sept. 28, 2015.

(111,110 posts)...behind Pikes Peak. I watched it from about 4:15 to about 6:00. It disappeared behind the mountains just as the sun was coming up. The last view was almost a total eclipse, with just enough light to look like a polar ice cap... Amazing!

(12,693 posts)Crystal clear sky this morning, Totality occurred about 5 am. Right now it's coming back with an downward pointing crescent.
What a night...got to see ISS pass directly overhead for about two minutes last night, and then the eclipse this morning.

(23 posts)There is a Rule that I have learned about total eclipses: Wherever I am, and whatever time of day or night they occur, I shall not be permitted to see them, because---whatever the forecast!---my location WILL be clouded over at the time of the event! Please understand what I am saying: I have seen cloud formations struggling to accumulate suffiency to block my view! I can almost HEAR the grinding of the weather gods' gears as they rush to prevent me from witnessing the glorious spectacle! They are up there somewhere, laughing at me! I'm telling you, my friend, it makes me question my agnosticism!
