The former executive director of the South Carolina Republican Party received a $5,000 personal recognizance bond during a hearing Tuesday morning on criminal domestic violence charges.

James John Todd Kincannon, 33, appeared in court and begged the judge to not impose a no contact order against him seeing his wife, Ashely Griffith, who alleged Kincannon yelled at her and prevented her from leaving their car after the pair left a gathering on March 26....

"We have, in light of recent testimony given by the victim, the state has evidence to prove otherwise," a Lexington County law enforcement official said. "We have genuine concerns about the safety and the welfare of the victim."

Kincannon has also made a name for himself on Twitter, where he refers to himself as the "honey badger" of politics. Several of Kincannon's tweets have drawn the ire of groups calling him a racist or a sexist.
