The defense will probably seek a change of venue if the community has a large African American population. If this case becomes heavily politicized in the weeks to come I could easily forsee one person on the jury hanging them up or one or two jurors refusing to vote guilty. When I was young i lived in Georgia right across the border from South Carolina and visited Charleston several times. It was a very conservative area at the time, with a love of the military (South Carolina seemed to me to be the most uniform-loving and authority-loving society in America) but that was back in the 60s.
