Feared for his life and considered erasing video
Read police report and showed video to friend that his video did not support what cop said
He wanted the family to know what happened

(10,953 posts)he had a video. The cop did not initially believe him and then started to believe him. He was smart enough to get out with the video before they work up enough to demand it. Had he not done that who knows if that video would have ever seen the light of day.

(10,953 posts)in California witness about 8-9 cops literally beat a man to death as he hollered for help. At least 2 of the witnesses videoed the incidents with their cell phones. Both were literally held hostage in their home until they turned the phones over to the police. If that has been me, I would have been on the phone to some people I know who are video experts to figure out how to upload the video elsewhere and email it out all over the place before I would hand over the phone.
Another guy videoed an incident where cops were beating up this guy. The cops took away his device and deleted the video. Fortunately for the guy (and not the cops) the video had been automatically uploaded to the cloud and the guy got it back.
If anybody videos the cops doing anything wrong they should never ever consider letting them know they have a video until they are able to make sure that they have secured a copy of the video in a safe place.

(774 posts)and make it easier and more commonplace to be able to upload (live stream), any videos in real time where the
cops can't get to them.

(10,953 posts)I think that a person is foolish to let the cops know that he/she has a video of an incident before he/she has a chance to make sure that they secure at least one copy elsewhere. I don't trust the cops and feel that they will easily try to delete anything that shows a cop (cops) committing criminal acts.
