If you’re thinking you see a lot of outrage in the media, you’re right. Some of that outrage is genuine and justified. And some…well, not so much.

For example, take the Tea Party. You’ve seen the nutty signs, the tinfoil hat paranoia, and the selective knowledge of American history. It’s enough to make you think they have no idea what they’re talking about.

That’s because sometimes they don’t. Literally. They are hired outrage machines.

Like the “protesters” at a recent meeting of the South Florida Water Management District in West Palm Beach, which was discussing the state’s purchase of land that would send treated water to the parched Everglades. US Sugar, which owns the property in question, apparently aren’t big fans of a proposal to help restore the Everglades.

Apparently unable to drum up actual support for its position, the powers that be called upon a casting director:



Approximately 50 actors showed up outside the meeting, signs in tow, and were paid $75 in cash to manufacture said outrage.
