General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsHillary says she wants to be my champion?
I am not pro or anti anybody, so don't be offended, but
if she wants to champion hard working Americans as she says, she needs to
1) explain her ties to wall street and the financial crowd that ruined the economy and the lives of those she wants to champion
2) explain why she supports the TPP and its corporatist agenda
3) her support as secretary of state - and subsequently - of Monsanto
There are other things as well, I am sure, but lets start there.
Before Hillary supporters jump on me, you should know that I will be fully behind the nominee in the general, but I want to see a primary that engenders a full discussion of these and other issues.

(25,771 posts)your reasoning? You suggest there is a reason
And that reason is?

(27,247 posts)Named after Bill Halter, a liberal Democratic candidate for governor of Arkansas who was pushed out of the running by the state party establishment before the primary in favor of the more conservative Mike Ross, whose ass was subsequently handed to him on a platter in the general election.

(11,833 posts)If and when she answers these questions let's post them here at DU.
I want to be as informed as possible.
I'm much less interested in any one poster's personal opinions on these three vital questions.
I want to hear her explanations straight from her, unvarnished & unedited.
ashling
(25,771 posts)I started to put that in my post too.
I am not interested in some diehard Hillary supporters telling me their opinion or feelings - not that I don't respect those - but I want to hear answers squarely put and directly from the lady herself.

(42,641 posts)if money wins campaigns every candidate will be looking for money from Wall Street. That is where the money is. The only way to negate money is with votes, many of them. To inspire the apathetic should be the goal.

(13,390 posts)I'd like to know how long she thinks she is going to live. Who takes on what may be the most difficult job in the world at an age when most people retire?
I honestly can not understand what she thinks she can contribute beyond what she already has that would make a grueling campaign and job worth it. She has done a lot for us. It seems a little absurd to me- and even to many of my die hard, feminist, Democratic, female friends in her age group.
I have wondered if she is caught up in the romance of a 2nd wave feminist being president or something?

(18,644 posts)I trust that Warren will only support her if she believes Hillary will actively pursue the goals that Warren strives for.
If she did, I would feel a lot better about Hillary being our candidate.
( It's odd how we refer to Hillary by her first name and Warren by her last but that's what seems to communicate clearest right now.)
davidpdx
(22,000 posts)whether Clinton adapts her ideas or not. She'll pretty much have to as a Democrat. Until then Warren should stay neutral.
Kablooie
(18,644 posts)If Warren advocated for Hillary as someone who will genuinely fight excessive power for the moneyed elite, it would pull Warren supporters to Hillary's side.
I doubt this will happen though.
I don't think Hillary really wants Wall Street reigned in.
It seems nearly all politicians of both parties think that Wall Street and large corporations grabbing more riches for themselves, even at the expense of our citizens, is good for the country.

(22,000 posts)But if she's not out there hitting the stump for Hillary after the nomination is tied up (assuming she is the nominee) she'll get a lot of shit from the DLC wing.

(27,247 posts)I am so sick of this DLC/Third Way crap, and the way that Hillary's husband has embraced the Bushes and campaigned against at least one liberal Democrat.

(14,350 posts)She is no friend to public education, at least, not any more. She needs to explain that and make some real strides to get the teacher vote back.
I refused to work for the Obama re-election campaign or give any money after he ended up being W. Bush 2 when it comes to education. I will continue to refuse to work for or give to any campaign that is against public ed.
