There are some songs that stand at the core of the labor movement. Year after year these songs ring out on picket lines, at labor rallies, and in union halls around the world. These Songs inspire and build solidarity between workers.

It is my understanding from what I have read that is was not illegal in a legislative sense to feed the kids of striking miners but local sheriffs made up their own laws and feeding strikers or assisting them in anyway was seriously frowned upon. Rick

I sort of thought it might be something like that but wasn't sure.

I will still complete my reading assignment. But it will take a while. I can only read on computers or ipad for so long before everything gets blurry. I really should go to the eye doctor.

Btw, WillyT had a post recently with the Natalie Merchant, Ani Difranco and Pete Seeger versions of Which Side Are You In. He also had a clip from the documentary with Florence Reece singing it.
