(1,383 posts)Although the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel did do an in depth report on it.
I am just not looking forward to Clinton supporters yelling sexism every time someone criticizes her for the next year, I was just looking to lightening the mood.
With very few exceptions I think criticisms for all politicians are in line, and don't take any of them to seriously. And although I am not a Hillary supporter right now, I like the majority of her hairstyles. In fact, in the past, my husband called one of my haircuts, the Hillary doo.
bettyellen
(47,209 posts)That leads to them being looked at as less than competent. And I don't mean just politicians, it's every working woman.

It is all scary but workers are asking for more money at a time they may be out of jobs."

And not only that, your post was actually false in addition to it being full of right wing economic talking points.

(14,449 posts)I don't think any of mine are factually incorrect. You just don't agree with me. Since I am such a burden, why not "ignore" me using the button provided? I don't want you too, but you seem distraught over my posts that you keep a copy of them. I have never hidden anyone but if I make you physically sick I'd rather that then anything happen to you. We need you here ready for 2016.

(46,192 posts)Notice in the thread how you acknowledge being corrected.
And yes, in addition to that I disagree that people don't like work and got what they asked for.
You are constantly correcting DUers for posting liberal reactions to things.
It is being noticed.
yeoman6987

(765 posts)cesspool of sexism and misogyny. My short time here has taught me something important: Liberals are not much different than conservatives when it comes to their view of women. No woman could win the presidency in this sexist and hostile environment. It will probably be another 50+ years before any woman gets close to the presidency. The latest polls show over 20% of Americans would not vote for ANY woman for president. You see, women don't have penises, and so people feel uncomfortable allowing them to lead. You apparently need a penis to be a leader. Hillary would have to use Bill's penis and everybody is afraid of Bill's penis.
By the way, if a post was made with racist instead of sexist overtones on the DU, it would immediately be removed and the person would be banned. It's not hard to see what's going on here.
bettyellen
(47,209 posts)And there are quite a few people here who seem to align more closely to Libertarian views, but somehow hang here although they despise feminists and "SJWs".

REASON FOR ALERT
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.
ALERTER'S COMMENTS
Sexist and completely unnecessary. Does not belong here
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Mon Apr 13, 2015, 05:08 PM, and the Jury voted 3-4 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #2 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: Post is stupid and pointless. Unless it is meant to be sarcastic. And I am not a Hillary supporter.
Juror #3 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: At first I was going to hide but then we do make fun of Trump's hair and Rand Paul's, so maybe it's not so sexist after all.
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #5 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: This sexism can take a HIKE.
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: I don't see it as sexist considering the amount of shit people like Trump and Traficant (to name 2 off of the top of my head) have received at this site.
Silly post. Probably not worth the responses. Certainly not worth the alert. Let it sink.
Juror #7 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE

bemildred
(90,061 posts)But seriously, I totally believe this. It is always demeaning to comment extensively and critically on someones appearance, it is none of your business, and I would expect that effect to apply to men and women both. The problem women have is that the media takes it as gospel that that is how you should talk about women.
earthside
(6,960 posts)A person's gender, race, religion, political party, positions on issues and, yes, how they attire themselves, what kind of car they drive, how many homes they have or if they have just one ... all part of what makes up an individual.
I remember when Pres. Carter changed the side on which he parted his hair ... and folks talked about it and 'before and after' photos were printed in newspapers and magazines.
If people are going to get all worked up over Hillary's fashion choices, well, it is going to be a long, bleak campaign.

(7,820 posts)While it's true that not every criticism of Hillary is sexist (I'm not a Hillary fan myself, quite frankly) it *is* absolutlely true that female politicians get far more attention- negative and "positive"- paid to their looks than male politicians do. Yeah, you can point to the rare exception, but it's a fact. And it acts as a distraction and makes it harder for female politicians to get their actual message listened to.
I'd much prefer to see her criticized on policy and not her hair.

(30,253 posts)Women are still judged by some men as to whether they are "doable" or not, because T&A is apparently what really matters when choosing a public official. What's more pathetic are the comments by irrelevant women who won't even make a footnote in history books. I'm talking to you Maureen Dowd, Arianna Huffington, Robin Givhan, et al.
This brings back bad memories from 2007-2008. I'm not sure if I'm ready for the barrage of sexist commentary about Hillary's hair, age, weight, choice of clothing, voice, etc., etc. etc.
